East River Tattoo

East River Tattoo was founded in 2000 by artist Duke Riley and sits on the Greenpoint waterfront in Brooklyn. Its custom designs draw on maritime folk art and 19th-century tattooing, with inspiration from antique nautical charts, woodcuts, engravings and scrimshaw, and the artists specialize in one-of-a-kind tattoos that celebrate craftsmanship and history. Twelve artists work in the shop, and walk-ins are accepted every day. Larger or requested sessions go through the artist directly, with a non-refundable deposit applied to the final cost. It is a fully licensed tattoo studio, the shop minimum is $150, and payment is cash only. Clients can reach a specific artist directly through that artist's page. It does not offer piercings.
